Vet is a joint show of Sinead McDonald and Darren Carr’s documentary work.
Sinead’s work was taken over a 14 month period, and documents the activities of Darren at work in a veterinary practice in Co. Sligo. By highlighting the aesthetic and theatrical aspects of the environment, the visceral, often disturbing imagery of life and death is brought into focus, alongside the everyday surgeries and consultations.
Darren’s work takes in a similar time frame and subject matter. Here though, the landscapes, both interior and exterior, are represented from the viewpoint of the protagonist of Sinead’s work. They are therefore more personal in nature, becoming almost domestic.
